Lee Jeong-hoon

Assistant Professor of Chinese Literature at Seoul National University, specializes in contemporary Chinese literature, culture, andintellectual history. He received his Ph.D. from Seoul National University (2005) with a dissertation on “The Expansion and Transformation of Literary Discourses in 1990s’ China,” and has continued to examine Chinese intellectuals’ responses to various dilemmas occasioned by the extreme speed of change in Chinese society since the 1990s. Prior to joining the faculty of Seoul National University, Lee taught at Ewha Women’s University and served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Academy of East Asian Studies at Sungkyunkwan University. His major publications include”Rereading Zhang Yimou’s ‘Curse of the Golden Flower’” (2008), and “Self-Critique and Critical Intellectuals in East Asia: Sun Ge’s rereading of Takeuchi Yoshimi”
